About this Site

This site not only serves as my portfolio and a place to keep folks up to date about what’s newsworthy over here, but is also a sandbox to play with all sorts of new Web tricks.  I’m the guinea pig so my clients don’t have to be!

Anyway, as things tend to be a little cutting edge around here, the site is best viewed in the latest browsers, like Internet Explorer 7 instead of the awful IE 6 or (gasp) 5.  But why not do yourself a favor and use a good browser: Safari.

About Me

Hello, you!  I, Morgan Stone Grether, am a proverbial jack-of-all-trades.  I hold a Ph.D. in English from Claremont Graduate University and have worked at several universities and colleges including Lewis & Clark College, the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Southern California.

You can often find me sauntering down Hawthorne Blvd. with my daughter here in wonderful Portland, Oregon, USA, but also here are some things I am up to in a normal week:

1. Web Developer
9 years of professional experience with hand-coded XHTML, hand-coded CSS, webservers, mailservers, content management systems (particularly ExpressionEngine), blogging, multimedia sites.  Software: Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Flash, etc.

2. Expert Communicator
16 years of professional experience in corporate/university communications. Including: grant applications, year-end reports, business plans, brochures, press releases, newsletters, guidebooks, etc.

3. Teacher / Trainer
11 years of professional experience teaching courses and running training sessions as a college/university instructor and administrator.  Expert in adapting course/session material to fit learners’ needs.

4. Musician / Songwriter
I have been writing and performing music for over two decades in more bands and in more towns than I care to list here.
